Improving Criteria for Disability Compensation
- VA's eligibility criteria do not fully incorporate a modern understanding of how technology and the labor market affect disabled veterans' ability to work, making it difficult for VA to assess the effects that medical impairments have on veterans' earning capacity.
- VA's disability program has experienced significant growth over the past decade and is expected to grow even more as veterans of previous conflicts age and more returning servicemembers from conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan become veterans.
